UKS2 Space Centre
Years 5 and 6 had a fantastic trip to Leicester Space Centre. We began by exploring the exhibits and learning about each planet in our solar system. Some of the interactive exhibits were so realistic they left us with wobbly legs! Next up, we went into the planetarium for a magical journey through our solar system and beyond. We were given a whistle-stop tour of astronomy and listened to some of the stories behind some of the constellations in the night sky. We then took a trip up into the rocket tower and learnt about man’s first moon landing. The children particularly enjoyed watching Armstrong’s first steps on lunar ground in an authentic 1960s living room and having the opportunity to see genuine artifacts from the Apollo missions. We’ve definitely kicked off our Earth and Space topic with a bang and can’t wait to continue our learning in Science this term.
